A Competitor for Christ

I often find myself trying to control what I eat, when I eat it and what I can do to burn it off to put me in the best shape. I fret about not working out hard enough or skipping a day in the gym but the truth is I am not the one that is in control anyways.

As much I like to think that every decision I make has a direct effect on my body and on my future, THANKFULLY, I am not the not one that is control of all that.  Sometimes I put so much pressure on the smallest of decisions but does the decision of how I wear my hair for practice or if I eat a snack after 9pm really matter in the long run? No! God has a plan for all of those who love and follow him. Romans 8:28 says that “we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose”. Based on this biblical truth, I know that all things work together for good; that he will never leave me or forsake me (Deuteronomy 31:6).

I am so greatful that I am not the one in control. But God is! The great creator of this world! And He sent his son Jesus as a sacrifice for our sins; to free us from His wrath! And now we can have a relationship with Him and follow the plan he has for us. That is why I compete for the glory and honor of God. He gave me this incredible gift to run and play a sport I love with with an amazing team. I compete for the cross and look to God because he loves and accepts me as I am.

Can’t wait to get back on that field and tear it up!
